The Yoga Camp is happy to welcome anyone living outside the ashram to take advantage of some of the facilities as day visitors. If you live in Val Morin, nearby Val David and other nearby villages as well as the greater Montreal area you can come regularly to enjoy the ashram. You may stay for a single yoga class, a workshop, or you can buy a day pass and spend the whole day on the Yoga Camp’s beautiful grounds taking part in the daily schedule. The Swami Vishnudevananda Ayurvedic Clinic, which is open during the summer months and the Christmas season, is also open to non-residents for consultations and treatments upon reservation. Please see also the Daily Schedule and the Calendar for special programs and events.
Yoga classes run twice daily from 8:00 am to 10:00 am and from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. All levels are welcome, including beginners. There is no need to book in advance, just come to the Reception and pay on arrival. The cost of a class is $10. All students are required to report to Reception before going to class to purchase their class or show their pass. Please see also the dates of our Open House and Beginners Courses.
Students attending a yoga class are welcome to stay for the vegetarian meal which is served right after. Brunch is at 10:00 am and dinner at 6:00 pm. If you want to stay for the meal, please be sure to tell the Reception before you go into the yoga class so that you will be added to the list for the kitchen counts. Please note that it is not possible to come for a meal only - this is reserved to students who come to the yoga class. The cost of the meal is $10. The class passes cannot be used towards the meals.
A great way to connect to the energy of the ashram is to attend satsang: meditation, chanting and discourse on yoga philosophy. Meditation starts promptly and the doors are locked for half an hour during the silent meditation. The doors open again 30 minutes later when the chanting begins to let the latecomers in. Satsang is free – visitors wishing to make an offering can bring flowers.
Please note that there are sometimes variations to the program, such as a silent walks or cultural programs.
During the winter, Wednesdays and Sundays morning there is a Silent Walk. Thurday evenings the Satsang is held in Samadhi Estates, Swami Vishnudevananda’s house. Mondays and Wednesday evenings there is no Satsang, nevertheless, the Temple remains open and all are welcome do go inside and sit for meditation and chanting.
When there are special programs, such as concerts, dance performances or guest speakers, we usually ask for a donation of $15, payable at the Reception. For more information check the Calendar or Contact us.
The Yoga Camp organises and hosts regular workshops and courses about subjects related to yoga, health and spirituality. Please see the ashram Calendar for details and call us to check if the event is open to non-residents. There is a charge for outside participants. Please check events details or call the Camp for more information and to register.
