Swami Sivanandha One of the great saints of modern times, Swami Sivananda is the inspiration behind the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre.

Swami Sivananda was a medical doctor before renouncing worldly life for the spiritual path. His teachings are a synthesis of all the formal doctrines of Yoga. He wrote more than 300 books on Yoga and Meditation in English, foreseeing that the world would need Yoga. 

In 1957, he sent one of his foremost disciples, Swami Vishnudevananda to the west to spread the ideals of Yoga. His teachings continue to enrich the lives of millions around the world.The teachings of the great Master can be summarized by his motto:

"Serve, Love, Give, Purify, Meditate, Realize”..

Swami_Vishnudevananda Born in south India, Swami Vishnudevananda entered the Ashram of Swami Sivananda at the age of 18.

A peace lover and the founder of the International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centres and is a renowned authority on Hatha and Raja Yoga. At a young age, he was nominated as "Hatha Yoga Professor" by Master Sivananda at Rishikesh, Himalayas. He was sent by Swami Sivananda to America to teach Yoga. He is considered to be one of the pioneers to bring Yoga and Yoga life to America and Europe He was a tireless campaigner for world peace, flying over war zones such as Israel and Palestine, Northern Ireland, the Berlin Wall during the 1960s and 1970s risking his life to disseminate the message of peace.  He is the author of bestselling book The Complete Illustrated Book of Yoga and Meditation and Mantras. 

He is the designer of this Sivananda Yoga Teacher’s Training Course. His motto:

"Health is Wealth, Peace of Mind is Happiness, Yoga shows the way”.
