Cardiac and Cancer Certification Course

Jointly offered by the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Ranch and the Integral Yoga Institute

Training and certification for yoga teachers and health professionals in adapting yoga for cardiac, cancer and life threatening diseases. This comprehensive and renowned certification program teaches how to meet the special needs of cardiac and cancer patients. It is both instructional and experiential, designed to benefit both teachers and practitioners. The program is ideal for yoga teachers and health professionals who would like to share yoga with people living with heart disease, cancer and other debilitating diseases. It is also useful for people with family histories and or/risk factors.

Curriculum includes:

  • Special postures and breathing exercises
  • Imagery for health and healing
  • The physiology and psycho-social aspects of heart disease
  • Meditation and relaxation techniques
  • The why and how of proper diet
  • Interfacing with the medical community

 

Nischala Joy Devi, author of The Healing Path of Yoga, and The Secret Power of Yoga is a masterful and compassionate teacher internationally renowned and specializing in the subtle use of body and mind healing. Educated by masters in India and worldwide, she lived as a monk with Swami Satchidanandaji for 18 years. Combining her western medical training and Yoga, she created the Yoga portion and subsequently served as Director of Yoga and Stress Management for Dr. Dean Ornish's Program for Reversing Heart Disease and co-founded the Award Winning Commonweal Cancer Help Program.

 

Bhaskara Alan Deva is the co-founder of the Abundant Wellbeing Temple. He is an instructor of yoga and Vastu Shastra/Feng Shui. He served as an instructor at Dr. Dean Ornish's Program for Reversing Heart Disease.

Certification

On successful completion of the training students receive a co-certification from the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Ranch and the Abundant Well-Being Temple. Graduates will have the skills to teach cardiac and cancer patients in a hospital, in a clinic setting, individually or in a group.

The training is registered by and fulfils the requirements for Yoga Alliance certification.

Course graduates earn credits toward graduate degrees from the Open International University.
