Yoga Youth Camp
with Omkari &Eka Jyothi

Open to children 11–14 years old. Omkari will be back again this year for more fun. Establishing a Yoga practice can be a life-transforming experience for young teens, allowing them to develop self-awareness, mental and spiritual growth, and a healthy, balanced, relationship with their rapidly growing bodies.   ($500 for children of members and $575 for Non-Members)

Omkari (Tara Rachel Jones) is the director and founding teacher of the Young People Camp since 2003 and has directed the Family Week for the past 11 years. Omkari has completed both TTC and ATTC with the Sivananda Organization. She has developed her own approach to children's Yoga, which is simple yet uniquely a synthesis of education, developmental movement and yogic teachings, and has been teaching Yoga to young people aged nursery through high school since 1997. She has a B.A. in Early Childhood Education, is a certified Montessori teacher and holds a Master's Degree in Waldorf Education (early childhood and elementary greads 1-8).

Eka Jyothi (Edya Kalev) teaches gentle breath-centered, anatomy-based Yoga to adults, teens and children in New York City. She has studied Yoga in India at the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Dhwanwantari Ashram in Kerala. Eka Jyothi is also Manager of Education at The Breathing Project Yoga Studio in Manhattan.

Yantras, geometric centering instruments, are used to awaken the energy of various deities and planets and to make contact with our inner being. Mavis will guide the selecting, constructing and painting of the appropriate yantra for each student. No previous art experience is necessary.
