Travel to Sivananda Kutir, Uttarkashi
Please plan ahead and allow sufficient travel time to reach the ashram before 5:30pm. The average travel from Haridwar to Sivananda Kutir is 8 hours without stops. Therefore plan to leave Haridwar before 9am. An overnight stay in Haridwar or Rishikesh may be necessary. In the unavoidable event that you can not reach the ashram before 5:30pm, kindly make arrangements to stay in Uttar Kashi town (8kms before the ashram). There are many guest houses available in Uttar Kashi. For a room in Uttar Kashi please call Mr. Badri at 094.1114.3458.
The nearest airport is Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi. From here the most convenient and economical from of travel is by train as far as Haridwar Junction and then by road to Netala.

Therefore plan to leave Haridwar before 9am. An overnight stay in Haridwar or Rishikesh may be necessary. In the unavoidable event that you can not reach the ashram before 4pm kindly phone ahead informing of your expected arrival time.
Foreign Nationals are required to bring their original passport with a valid visa for India.
Please note, a recent immigration rule by the Indian government came into effect, and there should be a period of at least two months between visits, after the last visit to India, before returning on a Tourist Visa.
Accommodation in Delhi
A wide range of accommodation is available in Delhi and can be easily booked in advance via the internet. Unfortunately we can not provide accommodation at the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta centres in Delhi. Please feel free to visit the centres or contact us for information.
For those who have a stop over in Delhi you may wish to drop into either of our Centres for a yoga class. Traditional Ayurvedic Oil Massage is also available at our Nataraja Centre, Kailash Colony.
Accommodation in Haridwar/Rishikesh
Both Haridwar and Rishikesh are major pilgrimage sites for both Indian and foreign tourists. Many hotel and guest houses are available. An internet search or travel guide to India will provide accommodation options to suit all budgets.
You are advised to purchase local currency from the airport 24 bank service near the baggage retrieval area.
There are a number of 'pre-paid' taxi booths in the airport building after you clear the customs desk. The average taxi charge from the airport to central New Delhi (Connaught Place, Pharganj) is approximately Rs 450. Note there is 10% extra fee from 2300 hrs to 0500 hrs. Rs 10 - Rs 50 tip is suggested. There is no convenient bus or auto rickshaw service from the airport.
By Train: from New Delhi (NDLS) to Haridwar Junction (HW)
You are advised to book rail tickets as soon as possible. Trains are usually fully booked nearer to the time of travel.
Train e-tickets can be booked up to 3 months in advance via the internet. Train information can be obtained via www.indianrail.gov.in. The Dehradun Shatabdi Express (no. 2017) departing daily from New Delhi station (NDLS) at 0650 hrs and arriving at Haridwar Junction (HW) at 1125 hrs is recommended for same day travel to Netala. Another option is the Mussoorie Express (4041) departing from Delhi station (DLI) daily at 21.05 hrs arriving at Haridwar Junction at 05.45hrs.

From Haridwar to NetalaBus
There is a bus terminal opposite the station. There are approximately 3 buses a day to Uttarkashi (7 hours travel). From Uttarkashi it is a further 8 km to Sivananda Kutir, Netala (near Siror Bridge) on the Gangotri road.
Note specifically ask for Sivananda Kutir (near Siror Bridge), Netala as there are several Sivananda ashrams in the Uttar Kashi area.
Return Travel from Netala
You are advised to book your return journeys in advance. Travel agency facilities in Uttarkashi are very limited. The nearest main booking agents are based in Rishikesh.
