Beginner Yoga Classes (Yoga 1 and Yoga 2)

The Beginners Course provides a sound foundation for the basic Sivananda yoga class. Students are taken through the class step-by-step in a small group, with explanations of the postures (asanas) and breathing exercises (pranayama), which allows for more personal one-to-one corrections. This is open to anyone who is completely new to yoga, new to the Sivananda class, or anyone who would like to go back to the basics.

A free-trial class is available every Sunday at 5.00 pm for those curious to see how our classes are structured.

The course is structured over 5 classes, meeting one time a week for 5 weeks. Advance registration is necessary. Arrive 10 minutes in advance. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing for the class. We supply yoga mats and cushions.

Beginners Yoga 1

In Yoga 1, you will be introduced to the 5 Points of Yoga for vibrant health, twelve basic yoga postures (asanas), breathing exercises (pranayama), relaxation exercises, and an explanation on their benefits.

5 week courses (1 class a week) . 90 minutes each.
$75 non-members / $65 members and students

In Yoga 2, further establish the practice learned in Yoga 1 as well as learn several new variations to develop more flexibility, strength and stamina.

5 sessions of 90 minutes (once a week)

$75 non-members / $65 members and students
Prerequisites : completed Yoga 1

Beginners Immersion
Beginners immersion week – winter special 
Summer is just around the corner and what better way to get your body and mind ready for it than spending a week immersed in yoga and meditation. As the season encourages us to cultivate a spirit of aliveness, both can inspire you to shape up, relieve stress and change your life for the better! 
Each day we will explore the 12 basic postures of the Sivananda Yoga sequence step-by-step, adding in some breath work and an introduction to how to calm your mind through meditation. This mini-intensive is perfect if you’re looking to begin a path to better health and flexibility while getting in touch with your spiritual side too. All beginners are welcome to experience the power of classical yoga at a pace that allows you to get the most out of the practices. 

The course will be taught in 5 sessions of 90 minutes each.
