International
Sivananda Yoga Teachers' Training Course

TTC : 2007 : Garopaba
SC : Brazil
07th of January
to 3rd of February

What is the Training?

It was back in 1969 when Swami Vishnu-devananda taught the first TTC (Teachers' Training Course) in the West. This teachers’ training is based in the same spirit than the courses held in "The Yoga Vedanta Forest Academy”, founded by Swami Sivananda himself in 1948, in the Sivananda Ashram in Rishikesh, Himalayas, India.
During this 4 weeks training, the student receives a thorough teaching that includes all aspects of the practice, theory, and philosophy of Yoga and lives the direct experience of the opening of his awareness to the nature of body, mind and spirit. In contact with an experienced teacher he realizes the limitations of his consciousness.
In order to complete the training it is not necessary to have the intention of actually becoming a yoga instructor, only to have a profound desire to draw from the peaceful and balanced energy of Yoga and then transmit it to others.
This training is imparted by “Yoga Acharyas” (spiritual guides), who were chosen and initiated by Swami Vishnu-devananda to continue the teachings of Swami Sivananda.
Just as you can give someone an orange, spiritual power can be transmitted from one person to another.
During the course there are also lectures by special guests, famous in the fields of ayurvedic medicine, philosophy and the science of religions, besides of different cultural activities (music, dance, etc.)
The course will be in Spanish with simultaneous translation into English and Portuguese.

Why an intensive course of four weeks?

Why an intensive course of four weeks?
Swami Vishnu-devananda continued the traditional Indian system of Gurukula, in which the student lives with the teacher in an Ashram (Yoga and meditation center). Closely supervised by the professor, the student works physically and mentally and acquires the full experience of Yoga, which he can later transmit to others, as his teachers did for him. In the efforts to create the most favorable conditions possible, this training is structured as an intensive course in the Ashrams.
