Gentle
Yoga Workshop
with Tara Durga Devi (Terry Crane)
Gentle Yoga is
designed for students who need to have the basic yoga postures
modified due to age, weight, illness, injury or limited flexibility
due to chronic stress or poor lifestyles. In keeping with the
principle of ahimsa (nonviolence) the postures need to be modified
so that these students can safely benefit from a physical practice
and to be able to fully relax and concentrate. This course is
designed to help yoga teachers evaluate limitations in their
students and prescribe modifications for them. And for current
students to be able to modify the postures to suit their bodies
safely. The workshop will also include a discussion on the
philosophy and psychology of gentle yoga and aging. The format will
include a full gentle yoga class followed by a discussion.
