hello

Meditation
Meditation is a fundamental part of yoga. In fact, hatha yoga is designed to make us better able to meditate. At the SYVC LA, we offer meditation courses and group meditation, called satsang, for those wanting to develop their meditation practice. For more information about meditation or courses...
Satsang
Satsang means literally "company of the wise". Everyone is invited to participate. No previous knowledge or experience of Yoga is required. Satsangs are held Monday-Saturday at 6am and in the evenings -Wednesday at 7pm and Sunday at 6:30pm. See our full schedule and directions.

Sunday Satsang is followed by free soup prepared by volunteers from the community. If you are interested in sharing your culinary skills contact Chandra at chandras@ix.netcom.com

Satsang consists of silent group meditation followed by mantra chanting, a reading (usually from the writings of Swami Sivananda or Swami Vishnu-devanada, our gurus) and a brief discourse.

Often when we host guest lectures and workshops, the visiting speaker will give a free lecture at Satsang. Satsang is open to members of all faiths, creeds, beliefs, and religions. All are welcome and Satsang is free of charge.

If you are interested in deepening your chanting practice, join us on alternating Saturdays from 4-6pm to learn the chants used in Satsang and to improve and energize your chanting practice!

Satsang is free and open to all.
