Yoga and the Environment

This course was held at the Center weekly for five sessions over the summer (2008) with dynamic speaker and Environmental Changemakers co-founder Joanne Poyourow. The information-packed sessions covered: The Three R's (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), Greener Gourmet, Water Wisdom, Power Possibilities and Transportation Solutions. Joanne's research is impeccable, her enthusiasm contagious and her vision practical, far-thinking and creative! She stresses how our "normal" behaviors are leading us to "outrageously" unsustainable lifestyles.

Yamas and Niyamas and the Environment

Vidya Chaitanya introduces the yamas and niyamas and explores the environmental implications of not living according to yoga’s “ten commandments”. The course includes practical examples of what we can all do.

Yoga and the Environment

The Center hosted a weekend conference on October 18 and 19 2008 with invited teachers and presenters - a full weekend of asana classes and workshops.

Yoga and Permaculture

An introductory weekend was offered at Sivananda Ashram Yoga Farm September 12-14, 2008. (The ashram is in Grass Valley, CA, in the Sierra Nevada foothills, north of Sacramento.) A Permaculture Design Course also ran there November 8-15, 2008, facilitated by Midwest Permaculture. Participants received a certificate upon completion of the course.
