Who We Are

Yoga at the heart of Geneva
The Sivananda Yoga Centre, founded in 1975, is the ideal environment for your practice with a surface of 160 m2 and three light and airy rooms. Choose from over 25 activities a week. In the reception area take the time to relax, share experiences with interesting people and receive advice from our teachers about any yoga matters. For 37 years, our priority is classical teaching of yoga, attention to detail and individual consultations.

The teaching team
The Sivananda Yoga Centre is directed by Swami Sivadasananda, a long-standing disciple of the founder Swami Vishnudevananda, who has over 25 years’ experience teaching yoga. In Geneva, a team of about 12 teachers, qualified with the International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centres, ensure an authentic teaching experience. Quality is more important for us than quantity. Our teachers follow a yogic lifestyle, which means they can teach and advise competently.

What we teach
A yoga class comprises a series of postures (asanas) that help you to release tension in your muscles and develop strength, flexibility and physical fitness.
The breathing exercises (pranayama) increase the life force.
The relaxation exercises are the basis for rest and inner bliss.

Swami Vishnudevananda
“Health is wealth. Peace of mind is happiness. Yoga shows the way.”
- Swami Vishnudevananda
The Teachings

Do you want to improve your health?
Do you want to reduce stress and have a greater sense of calm?
Do you need to boost your energy?

The 5 principles of yoga will leave you glowing with health:

1. Proper exercice:
Asanas or postures to improve flexibility, create a stronger skeletal system and improve circulation and muscle tone.

2. Proper breathing: Pranayama (control of the breath) breathing exercises to increase energy levels and improve concentration.

3. Proper relaxation: Complete physical and mental relaxation using specific techniques to calm the nervous system.

4. Proper diet: A complete diet - vegetarian - that nourishes the body and mind and provides a primary source of energy.

5. Positive thinking & meditation:
Developing concentration, mental strength and intuition as a path to inner peace.
