A Humble Appeal to You

Dear friends in Yoga, Namaste!

The Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Nataraja Society was established in 1992, and by this September, it would reach its sixteenth year. Over the years the Centre has been home for teaching yoga and self-discipline to thousands of residents in Delhi and beyond.

Yoga's growing significance and relevance in our society is evident. The fact that more than 300 people from Delhi have taken the International Sivananda Teachers' Training Course over the years bears testament to this phenomenon.

The Centre has been a strong backbone for the residents of Delhi, amidst the capital's demanding and stressful lifestyle. It gives shade for those who are exhausted, both physically and mentally. It also provides a sacred space for those seeking spiritual fulfillment in daily life.

All of us at the Centre - the teachers, volunteers and monks of the Sivananda Ashram - have dedicated our time and energy to serve humanity, and share our yogic experience as taught by Master Sri Swami Sivananda and Swami Vishnudevananda. We stand for unity in diversity and strive to transcend the barriers and limits of everyday life by using the yogic disciplines.

Any humanitarian work of this kind can be continued only with the help of the community. Together we have been successful in bringing an ancient science to the residents of Delhi, in an authentic way. We hope you can help us help more people to acquire good health and peace of mind.

The Centre has always relied on the financial and moral support of the people of Delhi to run its activities. While the Centre receives a nominal donation from members and students for its daily classes, the actual administrative expenses are met by donations from those of you who can afford and have been willing to share the burden.

As a non-profit organization whose goal is to serve the community, we are committed to offering you all the wonderful services you've grown to love. As such, we are in the process of improving our Centre's infrastructure.

Since all the contribution is utilized for rent and other living costs, it has never been enough to do further development and renovation, which is needed at present in order to maintain and continue the Centre's activities.

We require funds at least Rs 5 lakh to finish the renovation. This includes renovating the main yoga hall ceiling with proper lighting and sound systems, functioning windows, a couple of large air conditioners in each yoga hall, and a heating system for use during winter. We are also putting in more fans and curtains, and renovating the bathrooms. Apart from this we also require restructuring and beautifying the boutique and reception area, walking path, flower pots, get new yoga mats & towels, furniture, and proper altars for puja in every hall.

Any help, big or small, will go a long way in bringing this project to a completion. If you feel that you can contribute any sum, we would be most grateful. We assure you that your donation will be put to the best use of renovation and interior furnishings which we would like to have completed by 31st of August 2008.

You may generously offer any helping hand or construction materials like cement, wood, flooring materials, paints and furniture, etc. Also you may recommend or suggest any company or donors whom we can contact for this noble task.

All your generous financial donations are exempt from Income Tax under section 80G (5) (VD) Order No DIT (E)/2002-2003/S-22/19/98/1778, Govt of India.
