About Us
Welcome to the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Nataraja Centre. We offer many courses in Yoga and Meditation for the beginner, intermediate as well as for the advanced practitioner. We follow the ancient discipline of Yoga practise as taught by founder Sri Swami Vishnudevananda our founder, one of the foremost disciples of Sri Swami Sivananda of Rishikesh.
The Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Nataraja Centre, Delhi-South was founded by Swami Vishnudevananda as a non-profit organization in 1992 as part of the International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centres. Its purpose is to propagate the ancient science of yoga as a means of achieving physical, mental and spiritual well being.
The Ancient Wisdom of Yoga
Anyone can practise yoga. You don't need special equipment or clothes- just a small amount of space and a strong desire for a healthier more fulfilled life. Yoga is a complete science of life that originated in India thousands of years ago. It is the most comprehensive system of personal development in the world, encompassing the mind, body and the spirit.
You may be drawn to yoga as a way to keep yourself fit and to look and feel good. You may, on the other hand, come seeking help or relief for a specific complaint like tension or just for inner peace. Our centre offers the space and opportunity to enhance your understanding and practice of yoga.
Getting Started
It is best to start at the beginning. If you are new to yoga, we suggest that you start with our beginners' course. This course provides a step-by-step introduction to the theory and practice of yoga, emphasizing proper exercise (asanas), proper breathing (pranayama) and proper relaxation. We will also provide you with the Sivananda Yoga Training Manual, as part of the course.
We teach 12 basic asanas, the sun salutation (Surya namaskar) and pranayama in the beginners' course. The beginners course consists of an initial twelve training classes followed by one week of daily practice classes. Even if you have practised yoga before and are not a beginner, we suggest that you still think about doing our beginners' course. This will help you understand the system that is followed for all our other classes.
Free trial class - every Sunday 12:30 noon time, all are welcome for this introductory lesson including breathing and relaxation techniques. Come with an empty stomach.
