With over 30 years' experience in teaching yoga to beginners, the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center has developed a highly successful two-part introductory program that addresses all the major needs of newcomers to Yoga. The program is divided into a series of progressive classes, each of which provides a balanced yoga session that leaves students feeling relaxed and full of energy. Designed for complete beginners, the program is also appropriate for those with some experience of yoga who are new to this style of practice. This is an ideal introductory class or maintenance class for those who do not feel ready to join our open classes. The courses are held in small groups to ensure individual attention; please reserve early to secure a place. The course includes the following:
  • Introduction to Yoga philosophy
  • Basic breathing exercises
  • Guided relaxation techniques
  • Stretching exercises
  • Sun salutation
  • Introduction to the basic sequence of 12 asanas

Courses run for 8 sessions (twice weekly for four weeks or once weekly for 8 weeks). The cost is $85 or $65 members. Call us at (773) 878-7771 to register. We recommend that part 2 is taken soon after this course, so please reserve early to secure your place.
