Kiran Hegde belongs to a new generation of Hindustani musicians. In every performance, he carries the magic of his beautiful native village of India His unique style conveys the focus and determination he has brought to his studies with some of the finest acclaimed masters of India.
History:
Born and brought up in a traditional family from Karnataka, he was immersed in music from early age. He received his early training in basic Hindustani style with the vocalist Vidwan Prabhakar Bhat Sirsi after which he went to established flautist Pt. Venkatesh Godkhindi in Bangalore to study the techniques of flute. He is currently learning Gayaki ang (vocal style) Gwalior Gharana since 2005 world famous violinist Dr. N. Rajam.
He has participated in and won several national instrumental music competitions for senior levels conducted by Sahara India Parivar Lucknow, Omkarnath Music Foundation Trust Thane and Sharada Sangeet and Vidyalaya Mumbai. Representing Karnataka, he participated and won a prize in the 12th National Youth Festival in Pune. He was a recipient of the PANDIT. V. D PALUSKAR Memorial award in 2004 and was given the title of “Surmani” at the Kal Ke Kalakar Program conducted By Sur Singar Samsad Mumbai. He is also a graded artist of AIR Mumbai.
He has given performances all over India at events organized by I.T.C SANGEET RESEARCH ACADEMY, Abdul Karim Khan Memorial festival Miraj, and Hubli, Swara Samkula Mysore, Saptak Bangalore, Dadar Matunga Cultural Centre, NCPA Mumbai etc. He also frequently performs “jugalbandi” (duet) concerts, and also composes music for stage plays. His love of bansuri and Hindustani classical music brings to also teach many students in a regular base in order to transmit his unic heritage. He has also created Muralivan, heritage of the culture, an association to promote arts in rural area.

Kiran Hegde captures the audience with his talent and charisma, which shine through the musical challenges he loves to create. He is able to master both vocal style and instrumental style and he is very specific when it comes to develop and demonstrate the full raga form. The sound of his flute conveys purity, full musical commitment, and devotion. Each performance is a special transmission of this millennial art and transports us into a wonderful moment of magic.
