Drop-in Classes Schedule

Daily Drop in Classes Schedule for April 2014 and May 2014
  • Open Class (90 minutes)

Prerequisite: Yoga 1 or instructor approval

An Open Class is a classical hatha yoga session typically lasting 90 minutes. If you have some yoga experience, this is a class that encompasses proper breathing, flexibility, strength and vitality in the body while calming the mind. Because there is no competition in yoga, not even with yourself, you will learn to enjoy much more than just a healthy body from the practice and at the same time progress in all areas. Not suitable for complete beginners or new to Sivananda system; all students are advised to take a beginners' course before attending an open class.

    A typical Open Class includes:

    Initial relaxation (Savasana)
Breath exercises (Pranayama: Kapalabhati and Anuloma Viloma)
    Sun salutation (Surya Namaskar)
    12 basic postures (Asanas)
    Final relaxation (Savasana)

    No advance registration.
See the class schedule for class times.

  • Open Class (60 minutes)

Prerequisite: Yoga 1 or instructor approval

Although some postures may be omitted, this one hour class provides a complete practice session with breathing exercises, asanas and relaxation.

    No advance registration.
See the class schedule for class times.

  • Advanced Open Class (120 minutes)

Prerequisite: Yoga 1 or instructor approval

Advanced class gives more time for working on perfecting the 12 basic asanas, holding them longer in order to reap the full benefits of the postures with some variations.

    No advance registration.
See the class schedule for class times.
