Beginners' Courses

It is best to start at the beginning. If you are new to Yoga, we suggest that you start with our Yoga-1, a Complete Beginners' Course with step-by-step introduction. If you would like to try a class before booking a course we suggest coming to a Free Trial class held every Sunday from 01.00 – 03.00 PM.

  • Yoga 1 – Beginner Level

    This is the place to start and is perfect for complete beginners or for anyone looking to renew their practice.

    This 3-week course takes a step by step approach for developing strength, flexibility, good breathing habits, concentration and relaxation through:

    Asanas - Yoga Postures - Introducing the classical Sivananda class based on the '12 Basic Postures' system of Swami Vishnudevananda
    Pranayama - Yogic Breathing Exercises
    Savasana - Yogic Relaxation
    Learn how to come in and out of the postures in a safe and methodical way
    How to maximize the benefit of the postures

    Apart from the physical, mental and spiritual benefits that yoga brings about when practiced regularly, by the end of the course you will have enough knowledge and understanding of the sequence to establish a sound basic personal practice.

    Courses are taught in small groups and generally meet twice a week, either on Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays. The 90 minute classes are mostly practical, with some introduction to yoga philosophy.

    You will receive the Sivananda Pocket Training Manual for free when you enroll for any beginner course.

    Continuing your practice

    While practice at home is a good discipline, it is advisable to attend classes for correction and guidance from a teacher, especially when you are still new to yoga. For this reason we have daily open yoga classes, both in the morning and the evening. After completing the Yoga 1 Beginner's Course, it is suggested you continue with the Yoga 2, Open classes and advanced courses to develop and improve your practice.

  • Weekend Yoga 1 Intensive - Beginner Level

    A very popular alternative to the 2 week Yoga 1 for those who are unable to commit to weekday course, this weekend intensive gives a complete experience of the yogic lifestyle while providing a sound basis for your home practice. This special intensive course is designed to help you learn the basic Yoga postures, breathing exercises and relaxation techniques.

    Saturdays & Sundays | 2 weeks | 4 classes | 120 minutes each

    Afternoon: 01.00 – 03.00 PM

  • 4 Day Intensive Yoga - Beginner Level

    These courses take place over four consecutive days. The perfect timing of the courses during school breaks make them ideal for students (from age 16 upwards). The courses however, are open to all not just students.
