Yoga for Inner Peace - A Worldwide Reunion of Sivananda Yoga Teachers

The energy was extra high at the Sivananda Headquarters, the Yoga Camp in Val Morin, Canada August 12-14, 2010 as hundreds of teachers and even some of their family members gathered for the first Worldwide Sivananda Teachers reunion. Oh and we won't forget the wonderful yoga vacationers who were caught up with all the excitement as well!

There was no doubt that Swami Vishnudevananda's mission is still being fulfilled by teachers from far and wide ~ some who took TTC in the 70's as well as the most recent graduates of the course, shared stories about how yoga has changed their lives and also what it was like to have been with Swami Vishnu.

This amazing event of world recognition of the Sivananda system of yoga and its teachers was planned because the organization felt it was time to find out just how far reaching Swami Vishnu's message to spread world peace through yoga is. It's really about being out there and talking about the teachings, growing positive roots around the world in the name of peace. This is the reason TTC was created.

The Yoga Camp was prepared for days in advance with flag banners, general cleanup and a garden spruce up that enhanced the full beauty of the many flowers and trees. The auspicious Ganesha fountain was flowing as well! In front of the Krishna Temple, the "Krishna Stage" was set up under a huge white tent where the satsangs, live music and dance performances, and talks with Senior teachers were held throughout the reunion time. Each day was full of many moments of special introspection time for all as well as a lot of laughter, smiles, hugs and joy to be with the "Sivananda tribe" in such an awesome setting. The days also included loud and cheerful satsangs, pujas at the Subramanya Ayyappa Temple high on the hill, great Indian food, lots of karma yoga, asana classes for all levels and time to spend in the sauna, taking a dip in the pool or just sitting on the lush green ashram lawns taking in the sunshine.

For all three days, it was very clear that Swami Vishnu was very much there in spirit! And some of the most powerful words of wisdom from this reunion to the teachers ~ "Teach for what the students need, not what you know" and remember to maintain the purity and sacredness of the teachings for future generations. All agreed that this is an event that should happen every year and the next reunion has already been set for August 2011. If you are a Sivananda TTC/ATTC you don't want to miss it!
